Welcome to The Kitchen
Every home has a heart, and ours is the kitchen.
It’s the first place everyone heads after a long day. Boots are kicked off at the door, work clothes are swapped for something more comfortable, the kettle goes on, and before long someone is leaning on the bench telling the story of their day.
This kitchen has seen thousands of ordinary moments that have become lifelong memories. Family dinners after long days on the mine, smoko before heading out to tackle another project, birthdays, Christmas lunches, grandchildren helping bake biscuits, and countless cups of tea shared around the table while the world outside slowed down for a while.
It’s not a perfect kitchen, and it doesn’t need to be. It’s a kitchen that’s lived in. One that’s busy, sometimes messy, always welcoming, and filled with laughter, conversation and the smells of home cooking.
Over the years it has become the meeting place for our family. Whether Karl and Ben have been out in the workshop rebuilding machinery, the kids have been exploring the property, or I’ve been working from home all day, somehow we all end up back here. It is where the day begins, where it ends, and where the best conversations often happen.
Within these pages you’ll find Nanna’s Kitchen, full of family favourites and recipes handed down through the years, Old Fashion Meals & Recipes that remind us of simpler times, Smoko Time, where we take a break and share good food and good company, and Stories from the Old Days, preserving the memories, lessons and characters that have shaped our family.
We believe food is about far more than what’s on the plate. It’s about bringing people together, sharing stories, passing on traditions, and creating a place where everyone feels welcome.
So come on in, put the kettle on, pull up a chair and stay awhile.
There’s always something cooking, another story waiting to be told, and there’s always room for one more around our kitchen table.
